Daarom eisen we:

The planet is on fire, drowning in floods and plagued by pandemics. People all over the world, especially in the Global South, are dying as a result. The world's leading scientists called for a radical transformation of our economy, politics and society in a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In the next 10 years.

Universities should be leading the way as we face this existential challenge. We need research that helps shape our visions of a just and prosperous society and removes the barriers to achieving them. Universities must create spaces for students to nurture radical new ideas and provide the tools they need to be a part of transforming our society.

Instead our universities are distracted with recycling programmes and reducing paper waste. Or worse, they work with fossil fuel companies on "green" technologies that serve to protect the companies' business models and the consumption patterns that they profit from. This is not good enough.

That is why demand:

1. Stop fossil subsidies and redirect funds into education and research:
- Cancel student debt and make public transport free for all students, independently of nationality or level of education.
- End precarisation of university staff by creating better working conditions and offering permanent contracts to staff performing structural work.
2. Cut ties with the fossil industry and be completely transparent about the current state of cooperation with the industry:
- No high-level university position covered by people with conflicts of interest with links to the fossil fuels industry.
- No influence of fossil companies in research at all. TU Delft must stop any research that keeps the fossil fuel industry alive, including false sustainable solutions.
- No place for the fossil fuel industry at career fairs and other recruitment events at university.
3. Take on the role of academic leaders:
- Open more spaces for climate action: give students organisations and green offices more power in making the university sustainable.
- Integrate climate education in all curriculums.
- Offer free climate education to the public.
